The Christmas lights are back to illuminate the streets of Madrid with new features such as the Nativity scene in Plaza de las Cortes, the large walkable candle on Castellana at Nuevos Ministerios, the three giant angels in Plaza del Emperador Carlos V, the Baby Jesus on the Ventas bridge, and the new illuminated fir trees at the intersection of Alcalá and Gran Vía, Avenida del Padre Piquer, and Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz. In addition, Gran Vía, Goya, Montera, and Plaza de Chueca will feature new designs. For the second consecutive year, there will also be lights designed by children thanks to the school drawing competition organized by the Department of Works and Equipment. The Christmas lights will be installed in more than 240 locations in the city's 21 districts. In total, 13 million light bulbs will make Madrid shine brighter than ever.
