This year marks the 25th anniversary of this Museum dedicated to the history of Madrid, and Christmas is celebrated here in a special way. On one hand, the Renaissance courtyard hosts a life-size representation of the Epiphany with the Adoration of the Magi. On the other, an exhibition of twelve Nativity scenes from around the world is displayed, with pieces from the Basanta-Martín Collection. Both installations are designed by the renowned Nativity artist Jesús Mayo.
This exhibition offers an insight into the diverse forms taken by this religious and cultural expression. It also showcases human creativity in transforming raw materials according to needs and interests, through the different materials and techniques used to create the figures. Both aspects connect directly with the archaeological and anthropological perspective of the Museum of San Isidro’s collection.
